Happy Holidays!

Hello,

I wish you a wonderful holiday season and would like to take a look back at some of this year’s wonderful events to help us round off 2023 on a positive note!

. The artist residency I completed with the support of the Gard Departmental Council, which resulted in a wonderful presentation in my studio in June.

. My exhibition at the prestigious Saatchi Gallery in London for the international contemporary art fair Focus Art London, which was a wonderful experience this fall.

. The latest articles on my work published in the press, which are wonderful spotlights for which I am very grateful.

“Inner Landscapes”

This artist residency project, supported by the Gard Departmental Council, resulted in monumental works of drawing and weaving that echo my childhood memories of Nîmes. This suspended period of creativity culminated in an exhibition in my studio, on display all summer.

Thank you again to the Gard Departmental Council and the Collège Révolution of the City of Nîmes, and thank you to the many people who came to the opening and made this experience a wonderful memory.

FOCUS ART LONDON, exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery in London

I had the immense joy of making my artistic debut at the Saatchi Gallery in London at the beginning of autumn. This wonderful setting was hosting the international art fair FOCUS Art London, where I had the pleasure of exhibiting a series of paintings selected by Art Trope Gallery, the gallery that represents me, and its curator Virginie Tison.

An unforgettable experience in a prestigious setting and a city I love, alongside incredibly talented artists. Exciting encounters, upcoming collaborations, and passionate collectors.

I thank the Saatchi Gallery, Focus Art London and its curator Hong Lee and I obviously extend my warmest thanks to Art Trope Gallery and Virginie Tison for their renewed trust.

The press selection

To conclude this final newsletter of 2023, I invite you to discover a selection of two articles published in the written press this year.

These two beautiful texts, which Marilyn Beautour (Journalist for La Gazette) and Evelyne Virmont (Publication Director of Olé! Magazine) signed, can be found in full in dedicated articles by following the links:

. Artists to watch: Barbara Christol, geometry and wool (Text by Marilyn Beaufour. La Gazette, spring-summer 2023 supplement)

Olé’s Zoom: Barbara Christol (Text by Evelyne Virmont. Olé! Magazine, November 2023 edition)

Many thanks to these two journalists for their kind words and for highlighting my work!

Once again, I wish you all a very happy holiday season and look forward to seeing you in January at the Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris, where I will be exhibiting for the 120th anniversary of the Salon d’Automne!

See you soon,

Barbara
