Barbara Christol. A first exhibition in New York.

Painter Barbara Christol is exhibiting her new series “Blue is the Color of My Dreams,” a nod to Miro, whom she admires, at the Amsterdam Whitney Gallery in New York. This is a first for the artist. Born in Nîmes, she completed her entire schooling there, up to a degree in fine arts, before moving to Paris to continue her studies. It was during her doctorate at the Sorbonne that Barbara Christol became a nomad and forged ties with Latin America, particularly Chile, through weaving. “A ball of wool is light, practical, and ideal to carry when traveling alone. And weaving opens the door to encounters,” explains the artist, who has produced numerous ephemeral performances, which she weaves from softly colored wool and then unweaves to begin again elsewhere. But she hasn’t abandoned either the pencil or the paintbrush. Drawing as his first love, and geometry as his work, with a focus on refinement, balance, harmony, and purity of line… Always with gentleness.
